Request for Quotation – Building Cleaning and Grounds Maintenance Services

Seaway Valley Community Health Centre (SVCHC) invites qualified individuals, firms, organizations and corporations (as the Bidders) to submit a quotation for the provision of cleaning of the centre and grounds maintenance services at 353 Pitt Street, Cornwall for a 3-year period.

The primary responsibility of the selected Contractor will be to provide cleaning services for the entire Centre and grounds maintenance to Seaway Valley Community Health Centre’s property for a three (3) year period commencing December 1st, 2020.

SVCHC will award the contract to the Bidder whose quotation offers the best value to manage all identified contract requirements. However, SVCHC is under no obligation to award any contract in whole or in part and reserves the right in its sole discretion to cancel this Request for Quotation process at any time before or after closing without providing reasons for such cancellation. SVCHC reserves the right to accept the proposed offer in total or in part, to reject any or all offers, to waive any minor informalities or technicalities, and to accept the offer deemed most favourable to SVCHC.

To be eligible for consideration, quotations must meet all the requirements found below. Quotations that are unsigned, incomplete, conditional, illegible, unbalanced, and/or obscure or that contain additions not called for, reservations, erasures, alterations or irregularities of any kind may be rejected. SVCHC reserves the right to obtain additional information from the proponents to clarify the information in the Bidder’s submission.

Seaway Valley Community Health Centre (SVCHC) is presently recruiting a competent and dynamic individual for a full-time, permanent Community Health Worker (CHW) within the Community Team. SVCHC offers a competitive salary and benefit package including HOOPP.

The Community Health Worker is part of an inter-disciplinary team and works to promote and assist in the implementation of programs to improve the health of the community. In addition, the CHW engages groups and individuals to empower people to develop strategies and solutions to address issues that affect their health such as poverty and social isolation. The CHW also assists with the volunteer program which is one key strategy in addressing these issues.

Responsibilities: The CHW identifies programs and resources needed to support resident activities by developing and maintaining informal community networks. They act as an advocate for clients and community residents by providing assistance in accessing health, social service and related agencies and groups. Encouraging community engagement by assisting clients and residents to articulate and advocate for health and related services as appropriate to the area and participation in community development work to identify programs, services and resources needed to support client and resident needs is required.

This position requires knowledge and understanding of poverty and health equity issues. The successful candidate must have the ability to provide technological support and training to staff on software applications therefore computer knowledge, experience and proficiency is required.

Qualifications: A Baccalaureate degree in a health or social science discipline from a recognized university or a combination of some post-secondary education and significant experience in health promotion and/or community development. Three to five years progressive experience in a community-based human service organization. Thorough knowledge of and proficiency in community development activities, experience working with vulnerable populations, racialized communities and people living in poverty. Demonstrated ability to work effectively in an interprofessional environment. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with specific expertise in group facilitation. Thorough knowledge and understanding of community resources.

Health Promoter – Full Time Position

Seaway Valley Community Health Centre (SVCHC) is presently recruiting a competent and dynamic individual for a full-time, permanent Health Promoter position within the Community Team. SVCHC offers a competitive salary and benefit package including HOOPP.

The Health Promoter facilitates the planning, development, implementation and evaluation of health promotion and primary health care prevention programs. This position works as part of an inter-disciplinary team. Working at both the centre and throughout the community, the Health Promoter works in partnership with the staff of the centre, regional CHCs, community groups and collaborates with partner agencies.
