🌿 Seaway Valley CHC is excited to offer a “Nature Prescribing” series!
These gentle, slow-paced walks are guided by SVCHC staff, volunteers and partners. The focus is on immersing ourselves in nature, practicing mindfulness, and pausing along the way for themed wellness activities.
✨ What is the purpose of Nature Prescribing?
Step outside, breathe deeply, and reconnect—with nature and with others.
Our Nature Prescribing Program offers a series of guided walks and outdoor activities designed to support mental well-being through meaningful time in nature. Whether it’s exploring local trails, trying birdwatching, getting creative with nature-inspired art, or discovering wild foods, each session invites you to slow down, have fun, and feel refreshed.
Grounded in growing Canadian research, spending time in nature has been shown to reduce stress, improve mood, lower blood pressure, and support overall health. Programs like PaRx, Canada’s national nature prescription initiative, recommend at least two hours of nature time per week to experience real benefits—and we’re here to help make that easy, accessible, and enjoyable.
This program is:
- 🌱 Free of charge – making it easy for everyone to participate
- 👣 Flexible & welcoming – join for gentle walks or hands-on activities
- 🤝 Social & supportive – connect with others in a relaxed, outdoor setting
- 🌳 Rooted in local nature – enjoy the beauty of our nearby trails and green spaces
Nature Prescribing is open to a wide range of participants, including those looking to support their mental health, manage chronic conditions, or simply take a break from daily routines.
Join us as we step out of the community room and into nature—one breath, one step, and one moment at a time.
